ThePhig – An OpenSource PHP Image Gallery

Posted in Images, Web Development on April 11th, 2010

So, I finally decided to properly release my image gallery script that I had been using for quite a while. Previously, this script had been going by ReedGal but I decided it didn't quite roll off the tongue properly and wasn't catchy enough. Now, don't get me wrong, Reed is an awesome name. Can't get around that and I think everyone would agree. But I needed something that was unique and different.

So came ThePhig. It made sense to me and had a unique enough name that people might remember it. Yesterday I decided to register the domain, and with the help of Chris Coyier's Document Template, I put the site up, making it easier to maintain changelogs, keep people updated, etc.

I'm pretty proud of how ThePhig has come out thus far. It's my first major project and, while the code probably isn't as optimized as it could be, it seems to work really well. So, if it's your type of thing, check out the Demo or my Gallery to see it in action.
